“And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. ”
τίθημι
To put, to place, to appoint. Tithemi. Father into Your hands I commit My spirit. The final act of Jesus was an act of trust. Put everything in His hands. That is where it is safest.

To stand, to set, to place. Histemi. Having done all stand. Stand therefore. When you have done everything else there is still this. Stand in what Christ has already accomplished.

Sin, missing the mark. Hamartia. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Sin is not just breaking rules. It is missing the target of what humanity was created to be.

Great, large, important. Megas. A great door and effectual is opened. God opens great doors. Do not settle for small thinking about a great God. He works on a grand scale.

Lord, master, owner. Kurios. Jesus is Lord. The foundational confession of Christianity. Lord means owner. To confess Jesus as Lord is to surrender ownership of your life.

To cry out, to call aloud. Krazo. My God my God why have you forsaken me. The cry of dereliction is the most honest prayer in Scripture. God can handle our rawest moments.

Voice, sound. Phone. The sound of a voice. My sheep hear my voice. Jesus knows you by name and speaks to you personally. Learning to recognise His voice is essential.

To put to sleep, to fall asleep, to die. We do not grieve like those who have no hope for God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
