Flesh, body, human nature. Sarx. The Word became flesh. God took on human nature completely. He knows from the inside what it means to be human. He is not a distant deity.

Spirit, breath, wind. Pneuma. God is Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, God living inside every believer. He leads guides comforts and empowers.

To be, to exist. Eimi. When God names himself I AM, he uses this word. Existence itself belongs to him. Ground your identity in the one who simply is.

To rejoice, to be glad. Chairo. Rejoice in the Lord always. Chairo is more than feeling happy. It is the settled joy of one who knows God is in control and that the outcome is certain.

Order, fixed succession, appointed rank. Táxis. Christ is named a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. God works through established order, not chaos. Submit to the arrangement he has appointed.

Firmament, solid expanse. Stereōma. God stretched out the heavens and called the expanse good. What he establishes holds. Rest in that.

The one set apart and equipped for a specific task. Oil was poured on kings, priests and prophets in the Old Testament — the anointing meant: this one is chosen, this one is sent. Jesus stands up in Nazareth and reads Isaiah — and then says: this is Me. I am the one sent.

Faith, trust, belief, faithfulness. Pistis. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is the currency of the kingdom. Everything flows to those who trust God completely.
