“And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. ”
צְבִי
The deer does not philosophise about water. It simply knows it needs it and runs toward it. The psalmist in the middle of exile, surrounded by enemies, uses this image — my whole being runs toward You the way a deer runs to water. Thirst for God is not weakness. It is the most honest thing a soul can do.
