“And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.”

The shepherd's rod was not for the sheep — it was for predators. The staff was for guiding and steadying the sheep on narrow paths. David walks through the valley of the shadow of death and takes comfort not in the absence of danger, but in the presence of the shepherd's tools. God is equipped for what lies ahead of you.
