“(For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.”
בְּרִית
Covenant. Berith. A solemn binding agreement. God's covenants are unconditional promises that He will never break under any circumstances.
שָׁבַע
he swore

To swear, to take an oath. Shaba. God swore by Himself because there is none greater. His promises are backed by His own eternal nature.
