“Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.”
חָלַל
Pierced, wounded, profaned. Chalal. To be fatally pierced through. This is the word used for Jesus being pierced on the cross. He was pierced because of what we did, not because of anything He did.
