“Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,”
חָבַל
To bind, to pledge, to destroy. Chabal. Job says his spirit is broken — chabal. The word carries the weight of something twisted and ruined. Yet even in ruin Job holds on. The God who binds can also unbind. The God who breaks can also restore.

Bread, food, grain. Lechem. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. There is food for the body and food for the soul.
