“Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.”

Only, alone, solitary. Monos. Man shall not live by bread alone. The deepest hungers of life cannot be satisfied by material things. Only God can fill what God shaped.

Not just financially poor — ptochos is the one who crouches, who has nothing to stand on. Blessed are those who know they have nothing in themselves before God. That emptiness is not a problem. It is the very space into which the kingdom enters.

Strive, make every effort, be diligent. Spoudazō. Paul charges believers to be diligent to present themselves approved before God. Eagerness is not optional for the serious disciple. Make haste toward what matters.
