“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

The one set apart and equipped for a specific task. Oil was poured on kings, priests and prophets in the Old Testament — the anointing meant: this one is chosen, this one is sent. Jesus stands up in Nazareth and reads Isaiah — and then says: this is Me. I am the one sent.

Therefore, then, accordingly. Therefore since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God. The therefore of Scripture always builds on something God has already done.

Yoke, burden, pair of scales. Zugos. My yoke is easy and my burden is light. A yoke is shared. When you take Jesus's yoke He bears most of the weight. You never carry it alone.

Slave, servant, bondservant. Doulos. Paul a servant of Jesus Christ. The highest title Paul claimed was slave of Christ. Belonging completely to Jesus is the greatest freedom.

Jesus. Iesous. The Greek form of Yeshua meaning the LORD saves. The name given before His birth. In His name is salvation healing and authority over every power of darkness.

Freedom, liberty, release. Eleutheria. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Not freedom to sin but freedom from sin. The most profound liberty is inner liberty.
