“And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”
הָיָה
I AM. Hayah. The self-existent one. When Moses asked God His name God said I AM THAT I AM. Not I was or I will be but I AM. Always present always existing always enough. Jesus used the same words: before Abraham was I AM.
חֹשֶׁךְ
Darkness

Darkness. Choshek. The absence of light. God separated light from darkness. Jesus said He is the light of the world. Whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness.

Empty, formless, void. Tohu. The state of the earth before God spoke. God specialises in taking what is empty and formless and making something beautiful.

Deep, abyss. Tehom. The primordial deep waters. The Spirit of God moved over the face of the deep. God is not afraid of the deep places. He moves there.
