“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
הָיָה
I AM. Hayah. The self-existent one. When Moses asked God His name God said I AM THAT I AM. Not I was or I will be but I AM. Always present always existing always enough. Jesus used the same words: before Abraham was I AM.

God, Elohim. The all-powerful Creator God. Plural of majesty hinting at the Trinity. The plural form with singular verb speaks of the one God who is Father, Son and Spirit.

Life, living. Chay. The quality of being alive. The same root as Chayim, life in its fullness. God breathed chay into Adam's nostrils and he became a living soul.

Tree. Ets. A tree planted by rivers of water. The righteous person is like a tree with deep roots in God's word, bearing fruit in season and never withering.

Serpent. Nachash. The deceiver in the garden. Jesus said He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. He was defeated at the cross and his end is certain.

To do, to make, to accomplish. Asah. God looked at everything He had made and called it very good. Your life is also His asah. He is still working on it.

Crafty, shrewd, subtle. Arum. The serpent was more crafty than any animal. Evil presents itself as wisdom. Test everything against the word of God.
