“And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.”
לֶחֶם
Bread, food, grain. Lechem. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. There is food for the body and food for the soul.

they had heard

To hear, to listen, to obey. Shema. Hear O Israel. In Hebrew to truly hear means to obey. God is looking for those who hear with the intention to do.
