“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:”

Son, descendant, one sharing the nature of. Huios. You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Sonship through faith is the highest status available to a human being.

The training of a child, discipline, instruction. The Lord disciplines those He loves. Discipline is not punishment. It is the training of someone God intends to use greatly.
