“And though they say, The Lord liveth; surely they swear falsely.”

Life, living. Chay. The quality of being alive. The same root as Chayim, life in its fullness. God breathed chay into Adam's nostrils and he became a living soul.
שָׁבַע
they are swearing oaths

To swear, to take an oath. Shaba. God swore by Himself because there is none greater. His promises are backed by His own eternal nature.
