Job 24:3
King James Version
9 Jun 2026
“They drive away the ass of the fatherless, they take the widow’s ox for a pledge.”
חָבַל
To bind, to pledge, to destroy. Chabal. Job says his spirit is broken — chabal. The word carries the weight of something twisted and ruined. Yet even in ruin Job holds on. The God who binds can also unbind. The God who breaks can also restore.
