“John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;”
ἵστημι
To stand, to set, to place. Histemi. Having done all stand. Stand therefore. When you have done everything else there is still this. Stand in what Christ has already accomplished.

To baptize, to immerse, to dip. Baptizo. Baptism pictures death burial and resurrection. Going under the water is the old life. Coming up is the new creation life.
