To be, to exist. Eimi. When God names himself I AM, he uses this word. Existence itself belongs to him. Ground your identity in the one who simply is.

One's own, private, personal. Idios. What belongs to you alone, your particular life and calling. Steward it faithfully.

I, me, myself. Egō. Jesus claimed it absolutely: "I AM." Every human "I" exists only because the great I AM first spoke. Your identity is derivative, not ultimate.

To choose, to select, to elect. Eklegomai. You did not choose Me but I chose you. Being chosen by God precedes everything else. Your relationship with God began with His initiative.

Through, by means of, because of. Dia. God works through circumstances, through people, through suffering itself. Nothing is incidental in his hands.

To hate, to detest, to dislike strongly. Hate what is evil and cling to what is good. Not everything deserves equal treatment. Some things must be rejected.
