“Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.”

Jewish, belonging to Judah. Ioudaios. Salvation is from the Jews. God chose a people to bring the Messiah into the world. His choice of Israel was for the benefit of all nations.
