To close, to shut. Kleíō. What God shuts, no one opens; what God opens, no one shuts. Trust the doors he closes as much as the ones he opens.

To stand, to set, to place. Histemi. Having done all stand. Stand therefore. When you have done everything else there is still this. Stand in what Christ has already accomplished.

Middle, in the midst, among. Mesos. Where two or three gather in My name there I am in their midst. The promise of presence in gathered worship is permanent.

Speak, say, declare. Epō. Every word spoken or written carries weight before God. Speak with intention.

The Greek eirene carries the Hebrew shalom: wholeness, completeness, nothing missing, nothing broken. Jesus says in Me you have eirene, not in the absence of trouble, but in the middle of it. The peace He gives is not the peace of circumstances. It is the peace of His presence.
