“Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpeh, saying, There shall not any of us give his daughter unto Benjamin to wife.”
שָׁבַע
To swear, to take an oath. Shaba. God swore by Himself because there is none greater. His promises are backed by His own eternal nature.
