“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel. ”

Desert, wilderness, solitary place. Eremos. He withdrew to a wilderness place and prayed. The wilderness is not punishment. It is often the training ground for the greatest seasons.
