“For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.”

The one set apart and equipped for a specific task. Oil was poured on kings, priests and prophets in the Old Testament — the anointing meant: this one is chosen, this one is sent. Jesus stands up in Nazareth and reads Isaiah — and then says: this is Me. I am the one sent.

Wages, reward, pay. Misthos. Behold I am coming quickly and My reward is with Me. Following Jesus comes with a reward. Not payment for works but the gift of His presence forever.

Cup, drinking vessel. Poterion. This cup is the new covenant in My blood. The cup that Jesus drank is the cup that became our salvation. Drink in remembrance of Him.
