“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
σημεῖον
Sign, miracle, token, wonder. Semeion. Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe. Signs point beyond themselves. The miracle is never the main thing. It points to the One who does it.

Elect, chosen, selected. Eklektos. God will bring about justice for His elect. The chosen of God are those who belong to Him through faith. Chosen not because of merit but because of grace.

To raise up, to awaken, to arouse. Egeiro. He is not here He has risen. The resurrection is the pivot of history. Everything before it points to it. Everything after flows from it.
