“And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.”

To gain, to profit, to acquire. Kerdaino. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul. The world offers much and costs everything. Christ costs everything and gives more.

To hand over, to betray, to deliver up. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. The delivering of Jesus was the saving of the world.
