“And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.”

thoughtful, i.e. sagacious or discreet (implying a cautious character; while G4680 (σοφός) denotes practical skill or acumen; and G4908 (συνετός) indicates rather intelligence or mental acquirement); in a bad sense conceited (also in the comparative)

To extinguish, to quench, to put out. Sbennumi. Do not quench the Spirit. The Spirit can be grieved and quenched by persistent disobedience. Keep the fire burning through obedience.
