“Give us this day our daily bread.”

The most basic human need. You cannot go long without bread. Jesus takes the most fundamental hunger every human knows and says: I am the answer to that. I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger. Not never want things — never be left empty at the deepest level.

Daily, for the coming day. Epiousios. Give us this day our daily bread. God provides for today. He does not promise a year's supply in advance. He wants daily dependence.
