Righteousness, justice, rightness. Dikaiosune. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Righteousness is not earned. It is received as a gift through faith.

Through, by means of, because of. Dia. God works through circumstances, through people, through suffering itself. Nothing is incidental in his hands.

Passing over, toleration of sin. Páresis. God passed over former sins in his forbearance, not ignoring them but deferring their judgment until Christ bore them fully. Mercy was always moving toward the cross.

Already done, previously occurred. Proginomai. God's patience held back judgment for sins committed before Christ's atoning work. The cross reaches backward as well as forward.
