If, whether, that. Ei. Scripture's great conditionals hinge on this word, framing promises, warnings, and tests of faith. If you confess, if you believe, if you remain. The ifs of God are invitations, not uncertainties.

The one set apart and equipped for a specific task. Oil was poured on kings, priests and prophets in the Old Testament — the anointing meant: this one is chosen, this one is sent. Jesus stands up in Nazareth and reads Isaiah — and then says: this is Me. I am the one sent.

To believe, to trust, to have faith. Pisteuo. Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Believing is more than intellectual agreement. It is a transfer of trust to Jesus.

Live together, co-survive. Syzáō. To die with Christ is to live with him — the same union that joins us to his death joins us to his life. Shared life is the other side of shared suffering.
