“And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. ”
ὄχλος
A crowd, a multitude, a mob. He saw a great crowd and had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. His response to crowds was always compassion.
