“For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:”
παραδίδωμι
To hand over, to betray, to deliver up. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. The delivering of Jesus was the saving of the world.

Mistreat, insult, abuse. Hybrizō. The prophets were beaten, the Son was mocked, the servants were shamed. God sees every act of contempt inflicted on the vulnerable. Do not abuse what bears His image.

Spit on, spit at. Emptýō. Jesus endured this humiliation at the hands of those he came to save. The depth of his condescension has no bottom.
