“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
חָלַל
Pierced, wounded, profaned. Chalal. To be fatally pierced through. This is the word used for Jesus being pierced on the cross. He was pierced because of what we did, not because of anything He did.

Stripes, wounds, bruises. Chabbuwrah. The marks left by a whip. Every stripe Jesus received was the purchase price of your healing. Isaiah wrote this 700 years before the cross.
