“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

Lord, master, owner. Kurios. Jesus is Lord. The foundational confession of Christianity. Lord means owner. To confess Jesus as Lord is to surrender ownership of your life.

To serve as a slave, to be enslaved. Douleuo. No one can serve two masters. Divided loyalty destroys effectiveness. Choose who you will serve and serve wholeheartedly.
